All About The Good Bits
Have you ever read a romance novel and skipped to the, ahem, ‘good bits’? I know I have. Not only that, but I have a couple of books on my Kindle that contain such blisteringly hot scenes that I often find myself re-reading these special pages. If you’re the kind of person who skips to the juicy sections of a romance novel, then I’m about to blow your minds… and maybe some other parts as well! Are you ready?
The Good Bits is a new website for women, by women, that is ALL about the – of course – good bits! Yep, you read that right. This website celebrates ‘female-friendly erotica and sex positive writings by bestselling authors, to help women feel great about their sexuality.’
Siobhan Fitzgerald and Carol Battle founded the website when they were both on maternity leave. They saw the internet was filled with unimaginative sex that was dominated by men in terms of how women’s bodies and pleasure were viewed. They wanted to create a place where women could reconnect, explore and celebrate their own sexuality by reading the best sex writings from literature.
The sex stories featured on The Good Bits are diverse and accessible, inclusive and imaginative, body-positive and anti-shame. There is something for everyone, whether you’re gay, straight, bisexual or you’re not sure quite where you fit in. Stories are rated as ‘hot’ ‘hotter’ or ‘hottest’ so you have an idea of what you’re getting yourself into, and there are also articles from sex positive authors, academics and therapists sharing their expertise to help women improve their sexual health and wellbeing.

It tells you roughly how long it will take you to read it, and gives you a heat rating out of 4. If you’re just dipping your toe in then start with a ‘hot’ story and work your way up into a ‘hottest’ frenzy when you feel ready.
What I love about this site, apart from the ethos behind it and the super clean design, is that the stories are so diverse and interesting as well as scorchingly hot. Too often the sex in the books I read is a bit samey. I’m sure my own sex writing fits into this criteria as well, however as a writer, it’s always good to be challenged. Reading some of the sex stories featured on The Good Bits has been helpful for me to remember that there is a readership out there for sex scenes that sit outside the mainstream box.
Another super cool thing about the site is if you sign up for their newsletter, you get weekly stories delivered to your inbox on a Sunday. Just think, as you’re coming down from a weekend high, and facing the drudgery and routine of the start of the week, you can go into Monday with a spring in your step after reading some fabulous sexy writing on a Sunday evening.
