There have been many great contributions to the world of literature. Gutenberg invented the printing press, Shakespeare invented romantic comedy, and J K Rowling invented Harry Potter. However, all of these achievements pale into insignificance compared to my contribution - the sex index. Seeing a hole, I filled it. Finding a gap, I plugged it. My invention of a sex index at the back of a romance novel is hands down the most exciting new development since the Kindle. So join me, readers and fellow authors, to drill down into what a sex index is, and what it can do for you…
This month I took another step towards my inevitable departure from this plane of existence, hung out with the real life Zoe in her real life cabin, and faced the greatest of all romance author challenges - my mother reading my work. Not only did I manage to survive all three events, I held it together enough to be interviewed by Anna Fury for her blog, and The Smutty Book Lady for her podcast, as well as start a secret writing project involving insta-love and an overly amorous monkey. For all this and much, much more, read on!
Hi everyone, I’m Zoe and I’ve decided to do a takeover blog, because, well, quite frankly, Highland Games is about ME and I feel I need to explain myself a bit.
To paraphrase Julius Caesar: “I thought, I wrote, I published”. October 2021 will forever go down in Evie history as the moment that Highland Games was birthed into the world. It was a month of incredible highs and panicked lows, a month of cake, presents, surprises and guerilla marketing. So, if you want to know how to get your book on the shelves of an airport bookstore, and sell more books than you ever thought possible, read on!
Egyptians have the pyramids, Cambodians have Angkor Wat, Americans have the Statue of Liberty, and I have the Smut Hut. September has been about finishing off this marvellous erection in my garden and going into extended labour to birth Highland Games. If you want to read all about this, plus what to do with nineteen thousand words of deleted sex scenes, read on!
Zoe Maxwell is our heroine in both Highland Games and Hollywood Games, and appears in almost every other book in the Kinloch series. We meet her at the start of Highland Games with her life in crisis.
Having a cover designed for your books is one of the most exciting parts of the whole publishing journey and this blog takes you through every step, from initial ideas and inspiration to the finished product. Step behind the scenes and check out the cover design process for Highland Games!
Welcome to August. A month of summer holidays, sunshine and sandy beaches. Or in my case, a month of rain, norovirus, hospital visits, women in labour and the continued destruction remodelling of the back garden. For all this excitement, plus semi-naked men, Getting Dirty, and being gangsta on a mobility scooter, read on!
To get you in the mood for Highland Games and the Kinloch series, we’re going to set the scene with some gorgeous images. The stories are set around the fictitious village of Kinloch, in the Scottish highlands, an area of jaw dropping beauty.
If anyone were to think that all romance books are the same, then please point them towards this month’s blog. I’ve got seven foot blue aliens, a woman in a relationship with two bisexual men, and a Regency romance complete with a Missionary’s daughter, a dangerous bog and a testy peacock. All these books are fabulously written and utterly unputdownable. It doesn’t matter where in time or space the romance occurs, or who is involved. Love is love, and brilliant characters, story and writing will always win my heart.
